Whilst I shan’t go as far as Renquist (and don’t necessarily agree with his musical taste), I do agree with his general point.

I personally believe that, had Cobain not comitted suicide, Nirvana would have been yet another run-of-the-mill grunge band.
As it is, they never faced the accusations of ‘going downhill’, or ‘selling out’.

As for the ‘Nevermind’ guy, I can understand his creeped out feelings. But, if it were me, I would avoid the media like the plague.

The amount of people at my school who seemed to think that Nirvana discovered music was unbelievable. It really was quite depressing.

I definitely think Nirvana would have gone downhill, but they were also extremely popular here far before Kurt decided to leave this world.

So were the Spice Girls but if they got killed at the height of their fame they’d be immortalised.

Jim Morrison died at the height of the Doors’ fame but I don’t see anyone over-hyping them. Which is a shame because the Doors were pretty good. I quite like it when everyone’s smashed sitting on cushions on the floor lying on each other with ‘The Doors’ Greatest Hits’ playing at 4a.m.

That night wasn’t as cool as it sounds.

The Doors are quite the legend here too. Of course much time has indeed passed since that tragedy. I can’t remember the last time I heard someone speaking about Nirvana, other than commenting that “I haven’t heard this in a while” when it is played on the radio.

I wonder if he would have been idolized even more if he had taken his wife with him.

Nirvana were not the best band ever. nor were they bad. They had very good music most of the time and their song smells like teen spirit is a widely recognized as an important punk anthem.

One of the most interesting twists I know of involve Nirvana.

There’s a group created in the 1960’s called Nirvana - A Greek and an Irishman
Kurt Thingy stole the name for his group in the 80’s (there seems to be a lot of this going on)
Kurt Thingy wrote a song by the name of ‘Lithium’
This song has since been covered by the originals.

Traveled cross the sea,
To hunt her prey in foriegn lands,
And snuggle with Acci!

Smerk the cutest dragon
Is getting married now they say
Though little Accipiter
Has yet to name the day.
