Last night, BBC Radio 4’s Document programme covered the Business Plot, a 1930s plot to stage a fascist coup in the USA.

Can’t say that would come as any surprise. The leading families in the US are so inbred that even Hitler seemed like an OK guy.

Not to mention that we had Nazi sympathy troubles of our own. Sad to think that people were so spineless that in order to adopt an evil regime they’d be willing to sacrifice their country and way of life. Wallis Simpson, who in marrying Prince Edward forced him to abdicate the throne, was a huge Nazi sympathiser and had lunch with the German Ambassador every day leading up to the war, passing on British secrets.
