Don’t confuse net worth with annual income. They are not the same thing.

Like Terry Austin says, you could be a billionaire loosing money every year.  This doesn’t really tell us anything.

...I don’t feel guilty about not donating anything.

When I was breastfeeding, and applied for our local WIC (Women and Infant Children) program, I made $13 too much A YEAR.  They wouldn’t even consider me.  (And the reason I made “too much” was that before Jocelynn was born I was full time, but to save on childcare I went part time so my and Jason’s schedules wouldn’t overlap…and the 2 weeks that I worked full time for the beginning of the year sent me over…)

I am “the needy” most weeks of the year.  People should be donating money to ME.

My sister and I usually get jumped when we go shopping by people who want us to sponser children in a third world counrty. My sister’s usual resonse is “When I can afford to feed and clothe my own children, then I’ll think about sponsoring a child”. That tends to shut them up.

Coverted my annual income to US$.  Came out with an hourly rate which is approximately my hourly rate in AU$.

But true, it’s not very accurate asking for gross annual income only.  If I could be bothered figuring out my net worth, it’ll probably come out a lot lower.
