I’d be willing to bet home enemas are more common than vagina speculums. Speculi. Whatever.
Specula.
You know, having waded through more than enough porn-spam in my time, I was quite aware of this particular kink. Yet upon seeing an actual speculum for sale I completely failed to make the connection. Everyone else is right, a brief look at the seller’s other auctions makes it obvious that this was meant as a sex-toy. I was brain-locked on an image of someone holding the speculum in one hand and a copy of “Gynecology for Dummies” in the other doing some DIY diagnosis on their significant other.
Mind you, anyway you look at it it’s pretty clinical. I mean, what’s wrong with using a couple of spoons when the mood takes you, huh? The main difference between sex-play and fetish is the amount of preparation that goes in beforehand. Tie your SO up with a dressing-gown cord and it’s sex-play; buy a 4’ spreader-bar with integral manacles the week before and it’s fetish. You’re so much more likely to get a partner to go along with a bit of sex-play, so from a purely selfish viewpoint spontaneity is the better course. The only trouble with being spontaneous is it takes a lot of planning if it’s going to look natural.
