It’s freezing here. I’m in jeans, and a massive shirt with a t-shirt under it, but I could still do with a jumper.

Looked it up in the Dutch database for given names:

Joost——> root “Jodocus”, also “Justin”.

And I was wrong with the “typical Dutch” as the entry for the root “Jodocus” is:

Name of Breton origin. Judoc, from *Judacos “experienced in battle”. Later associated with Greeek ioodokos, “cntains arrows”. See also Joyce and Josse (French form of the name). Saiint name: son of Breton king turned hermite in Brahic (ca. 644), died in ca. 699, festivity day 13 Dec.

Flora:

Mainly Dutch, English, German area. Goddess of flowers and spring, festivity late April. But in fact has larger meaning that just thart, has whole meaning of Indogerman root *bhle/*bhlot, “to bloom”. [then a couple of sants and martyrs mentioned].

See also: Florentius

Florentius: notes basically the same, but adds: in Holland very popular during the Middle ages, revival in France during the renaissance, from there entered into Scotland (!).

Coo!
It’s still a boring name, though…

“gave” a monarch? Not sure what you mean. We have one, and we gave one to the Brits in the 17th century.
