Considering the source, I don’t think I’m being overly doubting when I say the story’s unlikely to be true…

Typical just typical. Its always the same with the tabloid press first they witchhunt the supermodels then they go after the squirrels.

How do you tell when a squirrel is “behaving bizarrely”?  They’re squirrels.  They only act non-bizarrely when they’re dead, and sometimes not even then.  And it would be rather difficult to see if a squirrel has bloodshot eyes.

O ye of little faith, I myself have witnessed the deadly phenomena known as “crack squirrels”. As the story you linked to points out,

“Crack squirrels are a recognised problem in America. They are common in parks used by addicts in New York and Washington DC. They have been known to attack park visitors in their search for a fix.”

So, all you doubters better watch your backs next time you find yourself wandering through a darkened, treed area. Remember, watch the skies! (squirrels tend to attack from above)

Several have been spotted behaving bizarrely in Brixton, South London, since a police blitz against pushers and users.

I used to work next door to a fertilizer factory, that was very sloppy with how they handled the chemicals. We had a family of squirrels living under our air conditioner, and one of the adults, we’d see every day prancing around on the bags of chemicals.

That was the freakiest, most aggressive squirrel I’ve ever seen. It would chase people around the parking lot. The owner of the place had a camper in the back parking lot, and would eat his lunch out there every day. Started keeping his .38 in the camper when the squirrel came charging in one day, snarling at him.
