Don’t think of it as destroying their world, think of it as liberating them from parental tyranny.
Why, without some self-appointed legal guardian to shove some half-baked pipe dream of bettering themselves upon them, these children would be free little entrepreneurs, able to sell the labour of their small hands and keen eyes to whatever local factory had the thrusting business get-go to undercut everyone else and win that contract to make cheap goods for spoilt westerners.
Child-labour, you know it makes scents (and shoes, and jeans, and t-shirts, and toys, ...).
