Wedding ring left means she´s a catholic. Above the rivers which devide the Netherlands (Maas and Rijn - Meuse and Rhine to you) it´s protestant country and they wear their wedding ring on the right. An engagement ring used to be a smaller version of the weddingring to come (no stones whatsoever if they were calvinists or “worse”, simply a gold ring. They cheated offcourse by means of more gold i.e. bigger rings) and was worn on the other hand. So a small ring left meant: engaged. Bigger ring right meant: don´t shake hands…married.
That was oldskool weddingringettiquete nowadays everybody does what he/she wants without even knowing what signal they give…
However I were mine left, because I´m righthanded, out of convenience.
Same goes for “seals” (you know with your heraldic weapon). Most people wear them on their ringfinger. Oldskool wear is your pointing finger. You would burn yourself if you tried to put your seal in hot wax if it was on your ringfinger.
I wear mine on my pointingfinger in oldskool fashion and for special occasions I use it.
Or you would wear a small one for daily use on your little pinky. Turning it sideways and use it like that.
Left a “pinky” less elaborate seal and right a bigger (pointfinger size) more elaborate seal. Offcourse you also have the fullblown sized seal which is like a stamp for on your desk. That one is not yet in my possesion.
