A statue of Jesus Christ is causing a sensation at an art gallery after witnesses said they saw sparks shooting from its eyes.

Well, it’s a nice change from the usual tears or blood that these miracle statues normally exude.

Somewhat related is an article in this week’s Science section of the New York Times (with photos) of why the human brain is inclined to see facial images, especially religious ones, in various objects….

Wow, that was a really cool article new guy.  Welcome to the board. 

I remember learning something similar about it back in my psych 101 class my freshman year.  I remember there was a person who had had surgery separating the two sides of her brain.  They show her (or maybe him?) pictures of vegetables set up to resemble faces and then had her look at them when only her left eye and then only her right.  When she looked with one eye she saw a face, but with the other she saw only vegetables.

Granted this is all memory so I may have some really important facts wrong.  It’s nice to know I at least learned something in over four years of college.
