If you stop taking vitamin C, doesn’t scurvy come back?

Confused indeed!

It’s interesting that Mickey Mouse should have brought up vitamin C and water as examples of “good” cures, also.  His other big complaint about pharmaceuticals is that they can have negative side effects (completely overlooking the fact that many have no noticeable side effects, that most side effects that are noticeable aren’t negative, and that with the very few that can sometimes have serious side effects, the side effects are often nothing compared to the diseases that the medicine treats).

Well, when we look at all the horrors of vitamin C (such as at this webpage here, or this one, or even this one) and water (such as those mentioned here, or on this page, or on this one, or even on this webpage on this very site), we can clearly see that vitamins and water are highly dangerous, and so we should avoid them whenever possible.  It’s shocking when you think of how criminally negligent and callous the orange growers and the well-diggers are, exposing us to all these risks merely for their own profit!

Quickly, let’s all sign up to join the drive to ban dihydrogen monoxide!

It’s too broad an argument, and I think that’s because the word “disease” can mean different things to different people (obviously the original poster thinks Disease covers all illnesses).  But basically a disease is the invasion of the body by PATHOGENS.  And there are drugs that can certainly kill pathogens.  There is no holistic medicine that I have EVER heard of that killed a pathogen, though they can control some of the side effects of having the pathogen (headache, etc).
Diabetes, COPD, and other chronic illness shouldn’t really be considered a disease, IMO.  They are “conditions” of the body caused by a multitude of different reasons.  You cannot cure chronic illness, you can only try to control their damage to the body….with drugs.  Everybody knows that chronic disease can’t be cured with drugs.  If it could, they wouldn’t be called Chronic.
