Yet another clueless moron almost gets suckered by lottery scam, according to the article linked to below, the only reason she wasnt suckered is because she mentioned it to a friend who had previously lost thousands of dollars to this scam.

No Chuck, they are clueless morons, and as Natural Selection suggests, the more half-witted idiots thatb fall for these scams the better, because then they might starve to death, being penniless. Death to the Cretinous!

That scam has been out for a while…..it was very profitable for some…..

Our local news covers a lot of scams - including this one…and reminds people almost weekly not to fall for them.  I think it’s b/c of the number of elderly that we have here…they want to be sure no one is missing the oppurtunity to be educated.  I can see how some people who may not have heard of it would fall for it - but anyone who is out and about on a regular basis should not fall for these types of scams.

Yep. definately mostly the elderly! They havn’t grown up around computers and they have been brought up in a much more trusting world than what the younger generation have today. They are very naive and trusting of almost anyone & everything! Including some too good to be true lottery scam! And yes. the younger ones who fall for it. I do agree and are clearly a case for natural selection! I even had one dubious request for my bank details so that I could help with someones inheritance money delivered to my mailbox. Weird thing, because the email was sent using the pretext of me giving my email to this Site!

SeaWasp, we all had that one.  The user who sent it has been banned and the email function through MoH switched off.

Yeah I just realised Smerk! Just been reading the comments on the other thread! I suppose it’s like send out a hundred thousand emails and get one that will fall for it! Doesn’t take or cost much to send out bulk emails!

Get rich quick scams will always find some victims because people’s greed overcomes their reason. Sad but true.

Something a lot of the elderly in this my area have fallen victim to, is where 2 men show up at a home, claiming to be the water or electric company.  One person takes the victim into a kitchen, and starts looking under the sink, while the other person steals stuff.
