WAKEMAN, Ohio - Sheriff’s deputies removed 11 children from a home where they were locked in cages less than 3 1/2 feet high, authorities said.

The children’s adoptive and foster parents, Mike and Sharen Gravelle, denied that they’d abused or neglected the children during a custody hearing Monday in Huron County. No charges had been filed as of Monday night.

“The impression that we got was that they felt it was OK,” said Lt. Randy Sommers of the Huron County Sheriff’s Office.

The Gravelles said a psychiatrist recommended they make the children

My husbands family used to have foster kids.  They slept in bunks, though, not cages.  There were alarms on the doors.  They had quite a few instances of children trying to assault other children in the night.  After one seriously creepy incident they returned all their girls, and put alarms on the doors.

Well…..Im sure the kids will be fine…Chuck turned out ok…..

Maybe that’s a different story.  There was one in Florida with maybe 8 kids involved.

Alot. For my psychology work we had to look at six or seven cases which all happened in recent years.

If they were elven children…wouldn’t they have been pretty small?  Those cages might not have been to bad to live in at all!

I suppose that if I had 8 or 11 children running around, I’d probably be sorely tempted to lock them away in cages at times.  Actually doing it, though, seems a bit excessive.

I always wonder WHY certain people go to all the trouble of becoming foster parents, only to end up abusing the children they are supposed to be responsible for. Half these kids come from deprived, depraved, or broken families in the first place, so why do these sick bas*ards feel the need to traumatise them further?
