I’ve heard them at the zoo, never in the wild - but it was more of a hissing growl thing…

This place is literally 15 minutes up the interstate highway from where I am… it’s already been determined to be a human, someone pulling a prank / hoax although I can’t remember where it was I heard it. As soon as I can find a reference I’ll post a link…

Don’t peacocks sound like a woman screaming?  I seem to remember reading this.

I used to hear them all the time out in spring valley, I used to think they were cats because they made a “meeeeeeeeow, meeeeeeeeow, meeeeeeeow” sound.

No, I’m pretty sure they don’t make the “m” sound.  No lips.

Have you heard a couple of domestic cats fighting outside?  You know how they yowl (scream) at each other, a cougar scream is somewhat like that, only much louder and more eerie.

No… I was just reading about it somewhere. I thought it was on the Cincinnati news channel website but when I went looking for it last night I couldn’t find the story. I’ll try to find it later and post it over the weekend. And yes, I’m aware that just because there’s a “story” about it doesn’t actually prove anything… but apply the razor to it and tell me which is more likely. Prank / Hoax / Misunderstanding OR an unknown species of monster?

Koala’s can make quite a scary sound as well. I remember camping trips that had us all freaking out because of the noise bellowing out of them…. They sound like an old, 80yr old man choking and moaning… Terrible to hear in the middle of the night, out in the middle of nowhere when you’re about 10yrs old… lol.
