If one is illegal, why isn’t the other?

If going to the bathroom is a private affair and actually against the law for exposure, why isn’t the shoveling in of food and drink just as private and illegal? After all, these are just different ‘ends’ of the same path.

You aren’t using the same bodily parts?
That is kind of like asking why it’s illegal to speed in your vehicle but not illegal to pump gas into it. It comes down to cultural taboos and mores.

I’ve had similar thoughts, Huli! Apparently in Roman times, it was considered quite scandalous to be seen eating in public.

Which kinda goes against the fact they invented the hamburger (minched meat on a bun) and they sold it at take aways.
They were great in fast food on the go.
But then again, that might have been mere plebs who did that.

Funnily enough this movie was the first thing I thought of when I saw Huli’s post.

Smerk the cutest dragon
Lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In Western Australi
Little Accipiter loved that girl enough
He told her jokes and crazy facts
And other forum stuff
Smerk the cutest dragon:
Traveled cross the sea,
To hunt her prey in foriegn lands,
And snuggle with Acci!
Smerk the cutest dragon
Is getting married now they say
Though little Accipiter
Has yet to name the day.

Actually, I recall there was a scene in Star Trek: Enterprise wherein the negotiations go rather disasterously for some unexplained reason. it turns out that the aliens were VERY offended by seeing people eating in public.
