Note the nice thick column. Lots of room for hiding a power source in there. Heck, the clock in the hallway can run for a week without stopping, that doesn’t make it perpetual.

Hmm, as you say a few minutes of footage isn’t enough to claim something would work forever, and that stuff about keeping it in a safe so ‘the man’ doesn’t supress it sounds a lot like any number of other miraculous machines described on Snopes or the Museum of Hoaxes, that you’re not allowed to see working, or that can only be displayed under controlled cirumstances with the inventor running the show, not so they can work some illusion on you of course, but in case the mysterious men from the government, or the new world order, or whatever, take it away and destroy it, or keep if for themself, or whatever they do.
