I’ve never heard of Pink Slime before. Is it true they add ammonia to meat? Story here.
TV chef Jamie Oliver’s Food Revolution sued in $1.2b lawsuit over ‘pink slime’
STAR TV chef Jamie Oliver is at the centre of a $1.2b lawsuit over his attacks on the mechanically separated meat popularly known as ‘pink slime’.
The British chef and healthy eating campaigner has campaigned across America against ‘pink slime’ in school lunches, saying “Everyone who is told about pink slime doesn’t like it in their food-school kids, soldiers, senior citizens all hate it.”
In one TV episode of Oliver’s Food Revolution in the US, Oliver douses beef trimmings in liquid ammonia while explaining what the product is and why he is disgusted with it.
The meat is then treated with ammonia to make it safe for human consumption, he alleged, then used to bulk out such products as mince, burgers and pies.
