Chase Card Services Apologizes For Inappropriate, Erroneous Letter

We were recently made aware of an inappropriately addressed credit card solicitation letter that contained an offensive phrase in place of a name. While you may hear about this letter through media reports, we want our employees to understand the full details.
The inappropriate information on that letter was obtained from a list purchased by Chase Card Services from a vendor. Although no Chase Card Services employee was involved in creating this information, we are embarrassed by this incident and regret that our automatic screening procedures did not catch this erroneous information.
We have sent a letter of apology to the individual, and are taking steps to improve our screening procedures and policies regarding information provided to us for our business use. We are firmly committed to preventing something like this from occurring again.
As a company that is dedicated to providing the highest degrees of respect to our cardmembers, prospective customers and employees, we are appalled by this incident. We offer our sincere apologies to anyone offended by this matter.
