Doomsday group plans NSW bunker

Updated: 17:05, Monday August 6, 2012

A doomsday group which believes most life on earth will be wiped out in December 2012 is charging $5000 for places in a survival bunker in NSW.

Group organiser Simon Young told News Limited he thought the bunker, believed to be near Tenterfield and 1.2km above sea level, was the best chance of survival.

He said the entry fee went towards materials to construct the bunker.

The ‘survival community’ believes massive earthquakes, shifts in the Earth’s poles and solar flares will confront the world later this year, citing Egyptian texts, Bible passages and a frozen mammoth as evidence.

Scientists have rejected 2012 doomsday claims and NASA has stated on their website they believe nothing will happen to the Earth this year.

Yep. An underground bunker is going to help protect you from massive earthquakes. Good move!

So if most of humanity is going to be wiped out what is the group supposed to do with the money people give them? Think about it.

From the article a few lines down from there:

He said the entry fee went towards materials to construct the bunker.

Duh. They already know they won’t be able to spend money after the destruction. They’re spending it now.

Probably just sounds more “authentic” than saying they read it in tea leaves.

Some people can make a leap of logic and use anything as justification.  A frozen mammoth isn’t that far a stretch.

The frozen mammoth is obviously there because it is a food source saved for the survivors. When the Earth rumbles and quakes it will bring the frozen mammoth to the surface. It will slowly thaw and provide several days’ food to the survivors when they crawl out of their bunker.

*ahem* blank stare
Guys, actually, the woolly mammoth is referenced because mammoths have been found fully frozen with a bite still in their mouths and food in the tummies.  Because of the temps that would be required to “flash freeze” something the size of the mammoth, some use it as proof that the crust of the earth was displaced around 10,000 BC and as an indication that something like that could occur again this year…....

...... Or something like that, ..... I think… red face  shut eye
