Doomsday group plans NSW bunker
Updated: 17:05, Monday August 6, 2012
A doomsday group which believes most life on earth will be wiped out in December 2012 is charging $5000 for places in a survival bunker in NSW.Group organiser Simon Young told News Limited he thought the bunker, believed to be near Tenterfield and 1.2km above sea level, was the best chance of survival.
He said the entry fee went towards materials to construct the bunker.
The ‘survival community’ believes massive earthquakes, shifts in the Earth’s poles and solar flares will confront the world later this year, citing Egyptian texts, Bible passages and a frozen mammoth as evidence.
Scientists have rejected 2012 doomsday claims and NASA has stated on their website they believe nothing will happen to the Earth this year.
