I’ve got a long way to go yet, about 18 hours and a couple of minutes, but Happy New Year anyway.  I’ll celebrate tonight after I get off work.  smile

Ten hours, 15 minutes to go here. And I’ll be going to bed in about 7 hours, 15 minutes. Getting up at 4:00 am to go into work. have to end of month and end of year stuff. Would ather go in early and get it done then spend later in the day there.

Melbourne Arts Centre set alight during fireworks

MELBOURNE’S Arts Centre spire has caught fire in a dramatic conclusion to the city’s New Year’s Eve fireworks display.

The fire appeared to be caused by a firework that failed to discharge properly during the spectacular show, which was witnessed by more than half a million people.

The area around the Arts Centre was evacuated immediately following the end of the of the fireworks.

Thirty minutes into the New Year, the flames covered two sides of the Arts Centre peak in St Kilda Rd as fire trucks tried to navigate their way through hundreds of thousands of revellers.
