Actually, they did patch the boat. But the glue was water-soluble so it didn’t hold, the boards flew off and the boat sank.

I learned from Gilligan’s Island that to patch a hole in a boat you need to completely deconstruct the boat and put it back together using glue instead of reusing the perfectly good nails holding the other 95% of it together.

I learned from action movies that if your perfectly fine gun runs out of bullets you angrily throw it away and get a new one.

Yeah, you beat me to it.  And the boat didn’t sink, it came apart on the beach, so they would have still had all the lumber and could have rebuilt the boat.

I learnt from time tunnel that no matter what clothing you’re wearing when you enter a timp warp, you’ll always arrive at your destination in your street clothes.

And everyone will speak 20th century English, and you’ll always arrive at a historically significant event…. of which you’ll know all the rlevant details.

I learned from multiple TV shows and movies that you can always defuse the bomb with a second to spare.

Assorted action movies have taught me that a hero can run across an open area faster than someone firing an automatic weapon can traverse the same area with their weapon….. and if there’s no wall for the bullets to strike then for some unknown reason they’ll drop & impact the ground behind the hero as he runs.

I learned from many horror movies that a woman running as fast as she can will be caught by a walking attacker the second she trips over.

I learned on various TV shows and movies that hand guns seem to have more range and power with their bullets than I seem to recall from when I was in the Australian Army Reserve.

With one notable exception - James Bond did it with 007 seconds to spare.
