That looks like it would be pretty neat, Tah! Ruby’s favorite game currently is Legend of Zelda: The Windwaker. We need to find her another copy of it, but the ones that we’ve found so far are around $70.

In my version of the internet, sending an email, or joining or posting to a forum requires a small micro-transaction - perhaps one-tenth of a cent. Easily paid for, even by the most destitute. Those with legitimate needs for sending out five thousand emails regularly (say, a company bulletin) could handle it within an intranet system to avoid fees. The trick being, that this would make wholesale spamming a monstrously unprofitable venture, and further give administrators another tool to block spammers by credit card.
Personally, I like not having to pay to join or post to a forum, even if it was a tiny amount. I don’t like having recurring bills on my credit card. But I can see where you’re coming from.
Yeah, microtransactions do tend to clutter up the statements, don’t they..? Still, perhaps they could be consolidated - send all the info to a central repository. Something like PayPal, where they keep all the microtransactions in a nice list, then at the start of every month, they bill you a nickel or so. You could even pay in advance: one dollar would be enough for a year’s posting for most folks.
Another advantage would be that folks whose computers have been compromised as part of a botnet would have evidence of it, and have financial reason to put a stop to it.
Oooh… that raises another useful aspect: By making it financial, even on a minor scale, botnetting scammers can be charged for much more serious crimes. I LIKE the idea of some of these spammers having to spend jail time.
