I have a topic I’d like to discuss but I realise Christian discussions have caused problems on these forums in the past so I’m loathe to post it here. Would it be appropriate if I start a private thing on Facebook and people here can just PM me if they wish to join in?

It would be so much easier, to be honest, if I could just post it for discussion here but I wish to be respectful to the nature of these forums. I’m mindful of how such discussions have caused arguments in the past.

Well, first off, you really don’t need our permission to start a private thing on Facebook.

Second of all, if you want to start a discussion here that’s what the Off Topic forum is for. (In a general way, not specifically.) You are already aware of the pitfalls that might come with that, though. So the wiser choice would be to take it to FB, have privacy settings that you would control and would therefore be able to moderate the people and dialogue that happens.

On a fun topic, we actually had a discussion of various koans and similar discussions.

Friend: “Well, then there’s the classic ‘Can God make a rock so heavy He can’t lift it?”
Me: “Yes…. but only by accident.”
F: ” . . . wait.. what? Buh…”
