Probably ‘running speed’. Of course even the best GPS is only accurate to within three feet, and most it’s about twelve, so there may ahve been shorter bursts of activity. But yeah, housecats are pretty lethargic compared to their feral brethren.

The best comsumer gps is accurate to about 3 -5 ft. However the gps used by surveyors are accurate to within centimeters. In the case of tracking collars however you are right and in fact the resolution is probably in the area of 5 meters rather than 5 feet. A lot of a gpsr’s accuracy depends on the antenna and something that would fit on a tracking collar would probably not provide the same level of accuracy compared to consumer or professional units. I guess in this case though the researcher only had to be in the ball park.
