THE interwebs are abuzz - this time, literally - with excitement after a video surfaced yesterday of a man who claims to have developed a “shaving helmet”.

The aptly titled “Shaving Helmet” featured on YouTube has been picked up by hundreds of tech and media sites such as Huffington Post, Wired and Gizmodo.

The device does exactly what it says - put it on and it automatically (or as one site put it,

I love the way they just “happen” to move the camera off the test subject whilst the “shave” is going on… LOL

WE thought something was fishy about the shaving helmet, and it turns out our suspicions were not unfounded.

It may be unsurprising to most that the video which featured a protype of the shaving helmet was a hoax.

I was right. It is part of a viral marketing campaign.
