What exactly does the Bible say about the Rapture? Isn’t the whole point that no one is supposed to know when the time comes?  Sort of like the health department dropping in to restaurants unexpectedly; it gives no one time to falsely clean up their act.  Trying to “predict” the Rapture seems to go against that philosophy…

Yep. Scripture’s pretty clear on that point. Nobody will know. period. Ever. Stop pestering me or I will turn this universe right around.

The Bible doesn’t actually describe the Rapture except through convoluted interpretation of certain passages. Revelation describes a long term end of the world scenario but it’s only through a tortured chain of logic that fundamentalists can support belief in the Rapture.

I always figured that the trick would be to train 365 or 366 people each year, each to firmly believe that the Rapture would occur on a different day of the next year.  That way there would be somebody expecting the Rapture to occur each and every day, thus preventing the Rapture from happening according to Matthew 24:42.

And what happens if one of those people dies before the date they believe?

Wouldn’t it just be easier for the person setting up these hundreds of people to just believe that the Rapture is going to happen every day? Each night at bedtime, since it didn’t happen that day, they can firmly state their belief that the Rapture will surely happen the next.
