The Kathleen Cullen Fine Arts gallery is being told by DC comics that they have to remove homo-erotic nudes of Batman and Robin from their gallery.  Additionally, art website Artnet was also told to remove several images from the exhibit that were dispayed on their website.

(Of course, the point there is that Batman and Robin are *not* gay lovers, despite all the evidence in the comics to the contrary.

Well, the gay batman is weird, but I think the real point here is that a major corporation is trying to dictate what art can and can’t be.  True, making a profit from using someone else’s mental property should be illegal, and so should stealing credit, but art should be protected (so long as the artist isn’t making it for a profit).

But they are for sale, aren’t they?  I can also see a case against damaging an image and protecting copyrights.  And if DC doesn’t protect their copyrights, they run the risk of losing them.  I know that companies often seem hardheaded and authoritarian about them, but DC doesn’t want to lose control of their characters, which could happen if they don’t fight copyright infringement.

This is so gross.  I’m really seriously freaked out.
