For the most part, the ecosystem is artificially sustained anyway. Only recently have they started to reintroduce natural predator such as wolves to certain areas. If it weren’t for hunting, game animals would overrun most wilderness areas. Some they already do resulting in unpopular measures, such as culling.
nah, i dont think it would work. There would be too much change, so the lions and elephants would take too long to get back to normal anyway. That would affect their breeding and stuff, plus they’d have to re-mark all their territory, causeing fights between the males, plus, as the article says, how will you provide all the food? I don’t think they’ll do it anyway.
First of all, they wouldn’t just be dumped in the middle of nowhere. They would be placed in a preserve where they could be monitored. There are more than enough animals to provide a food source for many predators, and for herbivores such as the elephants, if current fauna isn’t sufficient I would imagine that they would try to introduce plants that would thrive here and provide a food source. It’s actually the introduction of foreign plants that’s the real danger, so hopefully it wouldn’t be necessary.
I don’t see a problem with elephants…but lions????? That seems a little too much…..it would be cool, but thats about it….
I got news for you anyway Stephen… North America already has lions roaming around the ecosystem. They’re called Pumas, Mountain Lions, Cougars… whichever you prefer. Granted their numbers are nothing like pre-colonial times, but they are there and they are VERY big cats! That eat meat!!!

Yes….I am very aware of that..Im in Texas for crying out loud…...but the next thing we need is to introduce another big cat…......and I am also under the belief that “Lions” eat more.
