Er, thanks Maeg! I’m not overly keen on anything they’ve done since OK Computer, but The Bends is still one of my all-time fave albums.
Stephen: They all rock (although I don’t go as heavy as Pantera or Machinehead anymore, used to listen to Sepultura, Paradise Lost and Deicide!!!)
Foo Fighters are one of my faves, but again, feel let down by their later albums, never been better than Foo Fighters and The Colour & The Shape.
I’ve just about given up listening to the radio, since it’s all just talk talk talk now. So I content myself with my CDs and cassettes. I have rather eclectic tastes, not really listening to any one genre. The best way I can think of to give an idea of what I’ll listen to is to list some of my CDs:
The Corries, Steeleye Span, The Chieftans, The Tannahill Weavers, Enya, Loreena McKennitt, Carlos Montoya, Gipsy Kings, Ravi Shankar, Cheb Mami, Khaled, Hamza El Din, Munir Bashir, Itzak Perlman, The Klezmatics, Klezmer Conservatory Band, Brave Old World, Zumi-Kai, Harry Belafonte, Bob Marley, Buju Banton, Scott Joplin, Benny Goodman, Glenn Miller, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, George Gershwin, Peggy Lee, Marlene Dietrich, Louis Armstrong, Charlie Mingus, Quincy Jones, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, John Coltrane, Leadbelly, Howlin’ Wolf, Muddy Waters, Ray Charles, B.B. King, Eric Clapton, Taj Mahal, Stevie Ray Vaughn, Johnny Cash, Shania Twain, Charlie Daniels Band, Chet Atkins, Eva Cassidy, Gordon Lightfoot, Kingston Trio, Roger Miller, Otis Redding, Aretha Franklin, Diana Ross, Ben E. King, Edwin Starr, Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Beach Boys, Righteous Brothers, Kinks, Rascals, Creedence, Clearwater Revival, Buffalo Springfield, The Animals, Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Cat Stevens, Jim Croce, Three Dog Night, Stevie Wonder, Lynyrd Skynyrd, The Doors, Led Zeppelin, Eagles, Dire Straits, Billy Idol, Van Halen, Aerosmith, Whitesnake, Scorpions, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Beastie Boys, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, AC/DC, Metallica, Creed, Evanescence, Rammstein, Nickelback, 3 Doors Down, Monster Magnet, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Green Day, Eve 6, No Doubt, Verve Pipe, Deep Blue Something, The Calling, Matchbox Twenty, Hootie & the Blowfish, U2, The Corrs, Everlast, Fleetwood Mac, Lenny Kravitz, Shakira, Santana, Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, John Phillip Sousa, Queen, Rolling Stones, Smashing Pumpkins, John Denver, Albinoni, J. There, that list should have something to horrify and offend just about anybody!
The folders in my music folder (that are named after groups or musicians) are:
Beatles, Cake, Elvis Presely, Michael Jackson, Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Simon & Garfunkel, Soundgarden, Tex Sax, The Faint, The Offspring, Tom Waits and Weird Al Yankovich. Of course I have a lot of random songs by other musicians.
I don’t listen to music so much, though.
Oi Smerk! Queen Rocks!!!!!!!!!!!!!
But then again,
David Bowie
Darkness
Green Day
Vanessa Mae
Freddie Mercury
Eddie Izzard (ok so he is not an artist or band, but hes still my fav. commedian!)
And of course, anything from The Phantom of the Opera.
Rachmaninov, Pink Floyd, Handel’s Messiah, Bone Thugs ‘n Harmony, Barber’s Adagio, Romance in F# Minor for Violin (opus 11) by Dvorak, Mars and Mystery, Orbital (Little Fluffy Clouds ftw!), Simon & Garfunkle…
I can’t name any country I like, but I suppose I like some music with country influence… such as classical guitar, folk music… What I particularly don’t like is smooth jazz. And I particularly don’t like it when old music is “remixed” in some new style.
