It certainly seems very ironic and sappy.  Doesn’t mean it’s not real though.  Looks like a public service commercial to me.

It was just this minute shown on Channel 5 (I know, I know) news.
Apparently it’s a road safety video connected with a recent report that 1 in 3 teenagers don’t bother to look before crossing the road.
The Government are trying to focus on this topic at the moment.

i just saw the ad too on ITV whilst watching (blushes) x factor. i hate the show but have to watch the first few. Its refreshing to watch others embarrass themselves.
