Actually, on the topic of geomagnetic reversals the “sceptics"need some correcting too. The last reversal wasn’t 780 000 years ago. While this is the boundary of two major geomagnetic polarity epochs (Brunhes and Matuyama), thruth is that several smaller short-term polarization reversals have occured since, some rather recent.

I read somewhere that it confused migrating birds, but that too might be malarkey.
