Help Please, With A Mob Organization Name!

Right.

I’m barreling (or slogging rather) through my NaNoWriMo novel but there’s one bitty problem that I’ve been dealing with - I can’t think up a name for my undercover secret mob organization who are supposed to be the antagonists (not that my protagonist intends to follow the storyline).

Anyway, I want the name to be in the same vein as the Illuminati, however with the elements of the Italian mafia in there. I have no clue, do you guys have any ideas? If you do, I’d love you very much!

Hmmmmm.  My Italian grammar is probably not the best, but a few ideas:


Nascosto—the hidden; it also sounds a lot like “Cosa Nostra” (this would probably be what I’d go with if I were writing a story)

Chiarito—sort of like “Illuminati”, implying that they see more than others do


And a few random mobsterish or mystical secret-organisationesque or just vaguely sinister words:


Accetta—hatchet

Alleanza—alliance

Calca—the crowd

Capobanda—a band (as in music) leader

Castigare—to punish someone

Circo—circus

Depurare—purify

Direttiva or decreto—an order

Discordia—discord

Dritta—right hand

Duomo—cathedral

Eclissi—eclipse

Esercito—army

Estraneo—stranger

Facciata—fa

I had a mob gang in my 1920s RPG, called simply the ‘North Side Gang’, or ‘Northsiders’. It worked pretty well, since everyone knew where they were located (though they also had interests along the east side…).
