I was being a bit sarcastic as obviously, I do watch his show.

However,  it would be fun to watch him “rassle” something every now and then…..  And as far as Canadians go, you guys are much better at wilderness survival than us Southerners.

er yeah,
I mean, we do have alot of wilderness up here, thats true

to tell you the truth, i have never set up a tent in my life
the only camping ive ever done was in a cabin red face

Gee, I saw Shannon Tweed (NSFW) catch a bunch of fish, chop off the heads, and gut and fillet them on TV last week.  Isn’t she representative of all Canadians?  cheese

He should take over Les Stroud’s job.  That stupid Canadian can’t catch a fish or a squirrel to save his life (literally).  Fresh water?  Forget it.  He distilled 6 drops of water from his pee once.  Whopee.  The one time he actually caught enough fish to last a couple of meals, the “weather turned” and he had to go back to civilization.

I wouldn’t be so fast to criticize him.  The vast majority of people would do much worse given the equipment he starts out with.  I’ve been in that situation during my time in the armed forces and it’s not an easy thing to comprehend unless you have been there.  The premise is that he is starting out with minimal equipment, not a backpack with all the stuff necessary to survive for a week.

It’s rather funny to see all these people going on about “getting back to nature” and suchlike, who then go out with their fancy tents and a full wardrobe of expensive clothing and all sorts of gadgets and tools and the like. . .and then complain about how impossible it would be to live like that for more than a couple days.

I know.  Most people hear about doing without hot water and think it is a major hardship. shut eye

They just don’t “get it”.  The whole point of “roughing it” is doing without all of those things that we lean on for comfort and ease.  taking life down to its most basic.  Creating a meal truly from “scratch” in an environment devoid of all of the simplistic things….Though I must admit, it is awfully nice to get home and have hot water come out of the tap! LOL

Some of us.  tongue wink   There’s still a lot of women and guys up here who wouldn’t touch a live fish with a 10 ft pole and wouldn’t know what to do with one if they actually had to clean, cook and eat it.  Shannon is from Newfoundland which is a pretty wild place for the most part.  I dont’ think there are very many people from the Rock that don’t know how to catch and clean fish.  That was the major industry in the province for many decades and the whole family participated in it.

SYDNEY - A British teenager who survived 12 days lost in the Australian wilderness was disowned by his father over the division of spoils from an exclusive contract they negotiated for telling their harrowing story on television, news reports said Sunday.

Jaime Neale and his father, Richard Cass, were reported to have fallen out over how the 200,000 Australian dollar ($160,000) fee should be split.

Their harrowng story?  I thought he was the one who was lost?  Did I miss something there?  I guess his part of the story was the waiting in anguish at the airport just before he was told the kid was found.

No doubt. mad  But as the kid was the one to actually be in physical danger for 12 days, I figure he should get all or most of it. wink
But that’s just me…. cheese
