I saw this story earlier. This woman showed up at a hospital with a newborn baby with umbilical cord still attached. She originally claimed it was hers, but soon “admitted” that she bought it for $1000.
And now this twist…
Body at home of woman who claimed baby buy
PITTSBURGH - A body was found Friday with its hands bound in the apartment of a Pittsburgh-area woman who arrived at a hospital with a newborn she falsely claimed was her own, authorities said.
The body was found in the Wilkinsburg home of 38-year-old Andrea Curry-Demus, police said. Authorities did not say whether the body was male or female.
Curry-Demus showed up at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh on Thursday with a newborn whose umbilical cord was still attached. Tests later determined it was not hers; Curry-Demus was in the county jail on a child endangerment charge.
Curry-Demus said she bought the baby for $1,000 after befriending a pregnant woman, police said. In 1991 she pleaded guilty to aggravated assault and received 10 years’ probation after stabbing a woman in a suspected plot to steal the woman’s infant.
The baby will remain at West Penn Hospital until authorities determine who the mother is, police said.
