Colorful (luminous/glowing) cloud phenomenon in the sky was observed about 30 mins before the May 12, 2008 Sichuan earthquake took place. This was recorded in Tianshui, Gansu province ~450km northeast of epicenter.
Tobester I was just going to ask if this was related. I was also thinking ‘rain’ or ‘moisture’ caught up in the atmosphere since I’ve seen this before, and wondered if that could in any way be related to the earthquake. I’ve never heard or read anything that might put this phenomena together with other earthquakes.
I know there have been cases of atmospheric disturbances before an earthquake. I think it has more to do with particles thrown up in the air or an haze. Usually in the ionosphere. Sometimes lightening can be seen.
I would wager that lots of people had a sense of impending doom right before the earthquake too, but that doesn’t mean they are related. Neither does it mean they aren’t, but I would lean toward not related, not that I would actually know.
