Might well have been, huli.. Keeping rotor speed constant is *hard* in a helicopter if you’re doing any kind of maneuvering.

Huli, the rotors are actually spinning the whole time so that is a controlled dive. The trick is that they are spinning at the same speed as the camera is recording so they seem to be completely still. Similar to on the highway when you look at a car’s tire. Every once in a while it might seem to be standing still, at that point it is likely spinning at around 60 rotations per second which is up towards the limit that the human eye can register (about 60fps to steal game terminology).

Still a neat effect! Although I’d be surprised if they don’t have accurate digital rotor speed controllers on moderm military helicopters.
