Thank God for that.

Becuase my pirate friends were really upset that anti-semitism had invaded a thread about the great Jolly Roger (Captain Bloodbath Steinberg was especially pissed). So we all just went to the pub, drank rum and visited the local wenches.

Tomorrow we’re sailing down the River Kelvin and pillaging Glasgow University. I’ve made sandwiches and everything.

Next week we’re heading to this guy’s house for a show of solidarity. I don’t think his house is near a river or other body of water so we may need to take the train.

Remind me to buy Boo a round or three next time I’m in the area.

My personal advice on the flag. If they finally make it so he *has* to take it down, he should replace it with a solid red one.

For those not up on pirate lore: The Jolly Roger was basically a call to the other ship to surrender or Bad Things would happen. Most pirates had unique flags, so you could tell who was about to loot your vessel, based on their reputation. If you refused to be boarded peacefully, then the Jolly Roger would be taken down, replaced with the red flag, which signified ‘No Quarter Asked or Given’ - in short ‘You had your chance, we’re gonna come kill you now’.

Smerk the cutest dragon
Lived by the sea
And frolicked in the autumn mist
In Western Australi

Little Accipiter loved that girl enough
He told her jokes and crazy facts
And other forum stuff

Smerk the cutest dragon:
Traveled cross the sea,
To hunt her prey in foriegn lands,
And snuggle with Acci!

I always loved the concept of having a flag that lets everyone know who is about to keel-haul them.

“Look, cap’n, it’s Bart Roberts!”

“Don’t be stupid, boy. Bart Roberts has the skull facing to the left and an hourglass. As you can see if you look closely, that skull is wearing a bandana. It’s Morgan.”

“Sorry, cap’n, but Morgan’s flag doesn’t have the skull over crossed swords. I do believe it’s Calico Jack.”

“Ah shit the flag’s gone red.”

Would it be too off-topic for me to post a joke at this time? It’s about pirates, sort of, so I hope not:

Q: Why couldn’t the 10-year-old boy get in to see the pirate movie?

A: Because it was rated “Arrrrrrrr.”

Cracks me up!
