And, in more mundane news, I have ONE more choir rehearsal before the concert, and I’m terrified that I won’t get the hang of the BSL in time.

It’s kind of sad the way the city here tries to show its cultural awareness by putting up a giant menorah downtown.  They do it every year. . .and every year they light up all of the electric “candles” right from the moment that they set it up and keep them all lit all through Chanukah.  They try, but they sort of miss out on a few little details.

That’s us just finished cataloguing the 16 boxes we packed yesterday.
I thought it wouldn’t take so long. And we have about the same amount to do again today.

Oh, it’s quite brilliant.  Brilliantly lit.  Even when it’s supposed to be only one candle lit.  Oh well.  I’m sure the local Jews just sit and laugh and laugh and laugh.

You haven’t really lived until you’ve had to measure out several thousands of samples of material to a weight specific to the hundredth of a milligram, then carefully wrap each sample up in an incredibly delicate and expensive circle of pure silver foil the size of your fingernail. . .all without touching sample or foil with anything other than a couple pairs of forceps that you have to sterilise between each sample.  And then load each foil-wrapped sample into a machine.  And then run them through the machine.  And have the machine completely mess up because it’s a piece of junk that you’re stuck with and it makes total garbage of all the sample readings and you have to start all over with making new samples.

Maybe you and Boo could trade jobs for a while.  You’re both doing the receptionisty sort of thing.  And you had all that stuff about dealing with children back in your school days.

Eh.. they make allowances for electronic menorahs.. after all, they’re not going through the whole ritual with it, etc, so it’s just a display item.
