I came across this story on MSN news.

Mom Mad Over Son's 'Most Whipped' Photo In Yearbook.

I have my own opinion, but you decide if you think it is kinda stupid for them to make an issue of.

Okay, I can see where some might find it offensive, but he did pose for it and he and his friends didn't find anything wrong with the image, so since the school allowed it I think she's just out of luck.

I'd allow her to put a leash on me.

Maybe they should have said "pussy-whipped", it might not have been as 'offensive'.

(The kid is a legal adult, he posed for it.)

Just another example of the "older" generation forcing their issues upon the younger generations... whether they want to receive them or not. "He's" not offended by it, in fact it was his idea, so let it go! Just another way for someone, or some cause, to get it's 15 minutes of free publicity...

You know, I went to the article, I looked at the picture, and I didn’t really see the problem until I actually read this line in the article: “Richards is black and Finley is white.”
So it’s a race issue, denoting slavery. It seems to me more as a sex issue then a race one. If the article hadn’t ever mentioned the racial differences between the boy and his girlfriend, I never would have noticed.

I like this line from the article: “He said he and his peers are less conscious of race than older generations.”
And that’s the way it should be, when people look at it and see a boy that’s been whipped by his girlfriend, rather then a black man being held slave to a white girl. Racism will be nonexistent when people get to the point where they do not even notice a person’s race. By making a big deal over the picture, it just brings race into the spotlight, where it previously would have never been mentioned or thought of.

Would it have been considered racist if the picture was the other way around? With a black girl holding a white man on a leash. I doubt anyone would have thought anything of the picture then. Are the differing views on the pictures not racist in itself? Wouldn’t it have been more racist for the school to tell the boy, who had come up with the picture idea himself, that they couldn’t take his idea because he was black?

The more people make a big deal over racial differences, the more racism there is going to be. When are people going to learn this?

I lost a bet one time to where I had to walk around town, even in shopping centers, wearing a leash with my G/F holding it. All I got were strange looks but apparently no one seen anything wrong with me being a white slave. If some one asked me a question, my response was only to be, "Im Christi's little Bitch".
