Because a lot of times people are too embarassed to admit to police they've been bilked. Or, (you sometimes see this in the 419 scam victims) they keep believing, even in light of evidence, that their payoff is right around the corner.
It makes it easy for a scammer of any sort to think that they're not going to get caught when a lot people don't want to report them to authorities before the scammer just moves onto the next victim. |

Do Krispy Kreme donuts really taste better than other donuts? It seems like donuts are so fatty and sugary that they taste the same, regardless of the store. I don't understand the Krispy Kreme Kraze.
Actually, since this is America, shouldn't it be Krispy Kream? I'm not sure. |

No, all donuts don't taste the same. Some are good. Other's are Krispy Kreme. |

I actually don't see what is so good about KK donuts (sorry Chary).... didn't really taste a difference, but I only eat donuts every couple of years, so I'm no expert. |

This particular scam doesn't seem to have much to do with the actual KK Kompany. Until about a year ago, though, KK was the darling of Wall Street.
Locally (Portland, OR), TV news shows would have actual coverage of one of their openings, complete with reporter on the scene, etc. You'd think they had cured cancer or something, for Chrissakes!
Then, suddenly, it was revealed that KK wasn't quite the financial juggernaut they had pretended to be and the over-coverage stopped dead. |

I meant that some donuts are good, other are bad (KK). I have never understood why anyone would want to eat these things. |

I love Krispy Kreme donuts. Their glazed ones especially. What's wrong with them? |

I've never had them, but I'd just like to point out that 'Krispy Kreme' is a horrible and vaguely disturbing phrase. |

I eat Dunkin' Donuts...only b/c KK is too far out to drive, and I don't really care. If I wanted GOOD donuts, I'd go to Brookhaven Donuts...a little mom & pop place. |

Tim Horton's in Canada, is in my opinion, the best place for donuts in the world. especially just after midnight when they're coming off the line. Mmmmmmmm |

I like KK donuts, but the best by far that I've ever eaten anywhere, is Shipley's Do-nuts. There is no donut like a Shipley's plain glazed donut, a KK doesn't even come close. Alas, there is no Shipley's in CO. |

Shipley's...
*drool*
Now there's some REAL donuts for you. Screw KK. Shipley's did it first and best.
Duncan used to be decent but the last ones I had from there were rather blah. |

"Krispy Kreme" would have some reminiscence to those of us who have some experience in the porn world; hence the vulgarity.
Hence, maybe, the popularity. |

I only like the chocolate donut holes from Duncan's. Their regular donuts are too dense, like a heavy roll or something, not light and airy and melt in your mouth Shipley's goodness. |
