I wouldn't say Canadians are getting sue happy yet. I've had opportunities both here and when I was in Canada to sue, and still haven't.
The passport border thing would have made my life a lot more difficult though. I'm in the midst of ordering my passport from Canada, partially because of that. It is a pain in the ###. Next is my citizenship paperwork. :(

Looks like I am going to have to make a call to the INS and have them put a stop to that citizenship paperwork.

Many moons ago while travelling through India, I'd buy bread in the local markets and it wasnt unusual to find all manner of flora and fauna within. You just learn to eat around 'em...
A little more difficult with fluids I suppose.

In some places I've been, you'd use the insects to judge whether the food someone was selling was good or not. If the bugs all looked nice and healthy, you'd buy the food. If the bugs were all dead or dying, you wouldn't. Americans and Canadians seem to lack this method of culinary discrimination.
