To fool the filters many email providers offer, some spam emails are use "filler text," fake writing designed to meet the spam filter's word quotas. I find some of them rather like poetry, dada-esk, and have recently been saving some of them (hey, I've got the room on my computer; and spam is the hallmark of my generation).
My question is, how the heck do they generate the text, and where do they come up with this stuff? Do they steal sentences from online sources, or just enter random words to some sort of program?
I find it all very fascinating.

Good, so I'm not the only one who has found these spam e-mails interesting. I've been keeping some of the more fascinating random subject lines that they've sent me. I think my favourites so far are "proctologist feels 5 coconuts" and "cannibal girls 8 mailman". They almost seem to be making sense, in a weird twisted sort of way. I've never actually opened any of their e-mails, though, since I like keeping the virus population on my computer at manageable levels. |
