Stephen; Leaving The Forum
Posted By:

Apr 11, 2005

I am announcing that I am officially leaving the Forum. I am recieving too many personal attacks and it is no longer entertaining for me. I probably brought it on myself. I added that last line so I could beat some of you to the punch.

This just means I will not be conversing. I'll still moderate for spam and things you guys just don't want on here, but I'll be like a ghost. I have to do something useful at work ya know!

Not sure what to say, I'll miss seeing some of your posts. Sorry to hear this.

Okay, Stephen. If that's what you want to do.

But I will say in Stephen's defense that he's been very helpful about deleting spam and other crap that occasionally finds its way into the forum. Which is something that he does behind the scenes and may not be as visible to everyone else. Of course, there was that thing about changing other people's post, but he seemed to learn his lesson.

It seems he left out "So there!".

I'm sorry to see you do this. I don't remember anyone "attacking" you except Hairy (and who listens to him anyway?). All other comments that I recall were within what was considered "acceptable bounds". Especially since your continued pomposity just screamed for abuse. Admittedly most of us have acted childishly and needed to be slapped down, but most of us have learned something from that as well. I'm sorry you didn't.

at the risk of making a further personal attack, is someone feeling a little ignored? maybe the whole self-knighthood thing didnt work out quite right?

Stephen, do what yo feel you have to.

I really don't think you're making the right choice by leaving, mostly, I guess, because that's not what I would do in your situation.

You have been helpful to Alex, and therefore to all who visit the site, and I hope you will continue to be, if you stay behind the scenes.

I did concede, in your 'Female wanted' thread, that you did make the occasional good point. Because I choose to not respond when you're just being a dink does not mean that you should leave.

When I'm being a dink, I know it, and expect to get smacked down. You should, too. Sometimes I'm quite shocked when I'm not, and feel that I deserve to be.

As for personal attacks, I don't remeber making any on you, I just remember:
1.) Responding in kind when you were being a dink
And
2.) Pointing out why I responded to you this way.

But, like you said, this was your own doing, just as the decision to no longer post is your choice.

And I really think that you lost the last of some people's respect when you pompously knighted yourself, and kept pointing out how it 'made you better than us', just because you typed SIR in front of your name, and referring to others as 'beneath you'.

All in all, I'm sorry to see you go.
Even though you acted like a dink to me and never did apologize for what you did, even in the end.

Hmmm...I must not be hanging out in the right places, because except for the aforementioned thread ^, I've not seen these personal attacks...oh, well.

At any rate, I've always thought that a (mostly!) nice group of people comes here, and it's a shame to see dissent and in-fighting here. I can't force you to stay, of course, Stephen, but I do wish you'd reconsider. If nothing else, I've always found that when I get into conflict with people, they're most annoyed when I stick to my guns...heh.

So Stephen, good wishes to you as you go on your merry way, and I hope that sometime you reconsider and come back.

(Not positive exactly who this is addressed to, but...) And I really haven't seen many/any of these personal attacks, but if they're really as bad as they're alleged to be, can we please tone it down just a bit? It's fine to attack someone's arguments; it's not so fine to attack the person. As I said earlier, I've always liked the atmosphere in these forums, and it would be a shame to have that spoiled.

Friends?

Just one thing further, Stephen. It was not my intention to "run you off", so to speak, it was only my intention to make you think a little more before you post.

I dunno know, Stephie-boy. Personal attacks almost seem like an initiation. There was a short span a few days where everything I commented on was attacked. Apparently I was some sort of lying cyber nut. A short biography later, I'm okay.

Let's all flashback to the 70s. I'm okay, you're okay.

I have noticed, so far, that nobody is agreeing with your decision to leave, Steve.

But we have yet to hear from Hairy and Raoul smile

And ED, why did you call Hairy a flower? And why could you not type the whole word flower? Or did you mean finger?

Sorry about being off topic on something I consider quite serious, but I just HAD to. I'm sure Stephen would understand, but now we'll never know, will we?

Are we expected to believe this!

This is a hoax forum, he's hoaxing us.

April 1st was over a week ago, but if he'd pulled it then no one would have beleived.

Personally I have nothing against Stephen, true he acts like a dork sometimes, but then don't we all. I know there are times when I've written a long scathing comment and then not posted it, other times I do post and then think later - 'Oh you stupid pratt why did you say that.'

Pratt - I'm never too harsh on myself.

Seriously though I think in a week or two when Stephen has got the attention he wanted (can't think of a better way to put that, sorry), he'll jump out and shout it was all a hoax.

not sure about the personal attacks but it's a pity you feel that way, I for one will miss your comments and allusions of grandeur...
Happy trails lad.

For the first time, I watched this new show last night called "Con". Now, this was some funny stuff!!! This guy has become my new Idol. My question is, can this stuff actually be pulled off with out the T.V. camera following you around for people to see????

Since we all love hoaxes, I recommend everyone checking this out. I hope to attempt a con like this myself, just only have 2 ideas at the moment.

If we can all pull ourselves away from Stephen's exciting but, sadly, futile search for the perfect woman, here's an interesting little tidbit.

Kinda spooky....

Whatever... this smells just like the one ED pulled on everyone just last week! Is there a bet involved here... something like I bet you $20 I can get all the regulars to say I shouldn't go or something to that effect. Only time will tell I guess, but for the record... I have nothing to say. hmmm
