Seriously, though, I've checked out your website a few times, and I find it fairly interesting. It's not something that I would have found on my own, most probably, and I have bookmarked it to look at on days that are free from cow conspiracy theories and such.
I congratulate you on getting your work noticed. I know how it feels when someone sees something you have done and says "cool" or some such thing. For people who have never checked your url, this could come as a surprise... yes, LaMa has a doctorate.

I do expect (and fear) the puns on the meaning of "FMO" from Stephan the Court Jester and Hairy the Forum Jester....

That's very cool, LaMa. I hope you get all the follow-up observations you need.
What you're doing made me think that I should set up some kind of tracking system for hoaxes. FMH would mean 'fast moving hoax'; VFMH (very fast moving hoax).
Or maybe a jackalope tracking system would be better. I could set up a page in which people could log jackalope sightings, giving exact coordinates as well as time and date. They could describe the sighting as a FMJ (fast moving jackalope), or SMJ (slow moving jackalope). or VFMJ.
Okay, that's insane. I clearly need to stop daydreaming and get back to work.
But it does remind me. I just finished doing my taxes. My tax accountant told me that in all her years preparing taxes she's never before seen anyone claim a stuffed jackalope as a business deduction. I told her that there's got to be a first time for everything. |

I've seen something like that for Bigfoot. So why not the Jackalope then? or Elvis Presley?
You know Alex, I've followed your weblog for about a year before joining as a member; and it has become 'alive' for me. You managed to create a community, and I highly enjoy that. Somehow the Hairy's and Stephens and Winona's and all the others have become part of my daily life.
(Hairy or Rod will now probably answer with: "get a true life man!").
And its a community that's always good for a laugh. |

This is the first "online community" I've ever joined.
At first it was just a part of my daily read, and then one day I saw something that I figured I should comment on.
It didn't take long to become a member, just to avoid those damned security word boxes.
I WOULD tell you to get a life, but hey, I'm in the same boat as you...

I can't believe I never looked at your web site LaMa. Archeology has always fascinated me, I try to follow as many of the new finds as I can. The period which I have the most interest in is the Ice Age. If I had a time machine I would want to go back simply to see the animals roaming the earth then, especially the Mammoths and Saber Tooth cats.
I will have to take a good look at your site, as soon as I am more awake, I spent the night playing midwife to the abandoned pregnant cat I took in a couple of weeks ago. She did all the work yet I am the one exhausted! |

An Elvis tracking system! That's brilliant. But I'm guessing Elvis never moves very fast, so it'll be mostly SMEs and VSMEs.
When I finish my book I'm going to work on creating that. |

I think an Elvis tracking system would be a very cool addition to the Museum. With an on-line report form, and a map showing dots of his sightings over the country. |

Its in the bag! It got enough follow-up and now is designated Near Earth Asteroid 2005 GG81 by the Minor planet Center;
Minor Planet Electronic Circular 2005-G73
It is about 30 yards wide (so a very small object)and stays just outside earth orbit |

In fact you do, but only after it has been seen over several returns. The 2005 GG81 designation is a 'provisional' designation, and after being detected over multiple oppositions, the discoverers have the right to propose a name. That will not happen quickly with this object though, it is too small for that so will not be easy to recover. |
