I think this ENTIRE thing about our national debt / deficit must be a hoax... otherwise, why would we be spending money on stuff like this if we're even 1 dime in the hole???

Take some concern... maybe. But Secret Service Protection??? How ridiculous!

I view communism and democracy about the same...
They both have good and bad points, and due to human nature, they can never work, and will eventually fall apart into anarchy.
Yay, Anarchy!
I just don't see why society has to spend so much money on movies, when reading books exercises the mind even better, and makes people literate, so that they know how to spell when they hit the net.
Not that I don't enjoy movies, I was just making the human nature point when comparing movie expenditure to what people say they SHOULD spend their money on.
If everyone who was going to a theatre to watch a movie, or going to rent or buy a video, instead donated that money to charity for the next year, what would happen?
It'll never happen, humans are just too inherently selfish. Not ALL people, but about 99.8 percent of us. |

Whips out the old "Democracy is a system of government, communism is an economic system" argument.
Really, to be fair, you should compare communism to capitalism, because a good communist state would be democratic. Not that there are many, if any, good communist states. |

It's ok, I know the evil capitalists have conditioned you to think that communism is the opposite of democracy. |

I know I'll catch a ton of flack over this one but, it is my opinion that the next big step humans need to take in order to progress as a species is to get over this whole money / profit idea. We are just one small dot of insignificant bullshit among many dots in our galaxy. If you need something, and it's available you should get it. (Notice I said need not want, AND YES I know who's to then decide what's needed) Communism, as an Economic principle, is in theory a good idea... There's only so much, no matter what you're talking about, so why shouldn't everyone have? |

I think that if we ever stop using money, we won't really be human any more, or at least we won't have any civilization as we know it. Money is needed for our wants, after all; otherwise, how would I ever get a trilobite fossil, since someone else might have hoarded them all? And there aren't enough good trilobites to give one to everybody.
As cliche as it is to say, communism might be an impossible dream, and socialist capitalism might be the best for which we can aim.
Uh oh, getting off topic... um, Ray Bradbury once wrote a story about money. |
