If you rename him "zombie Alex" you're gonna have to make the eyes white, not green! And make the flesh look a little more corpse-like... |

Hmm, it looks like I've got something to do tomorry!
(just a plain old smiley here, cause there's not one in the list...)
Maybe I'll give him a Dawn of the Dead (or better, Shawn of the Dead) background...

Taylor-
I feel that you are missing the point. I see no point in attacking this man for what he has done. He tried his very best to take care of his wife and keep her as happy as she could be. He stopped by the hospital everday to see his wife Taylor, doesn't that show at least some sign of love that he has for his wife. Everyday for 15 years... So I don't understand how you can call him cruel and heartless after that. All you do is attack Terri's husband, who are you to say that if you were his new wife you should pack up your things and run.
Maybe we don't know the details of why he did not let Terri's family be there when she took her last breath. We know that the two did not get along very well in the first place, her husband thought it would have been best if she was put to death while her parents wanted her alive, maybe the husband was trying to make things easier for the family, we just don't know all the details.
And lastly Taylor, just because there were no enzymes that were found in her to indicate a heart attack you cannot just assume she was strangled... How does that even make sense? There are numerous possibilities of what could have happened. I am sorry you feel so negative towards the decision that he has made but you are not the husband in this situation, nor know know much of the inner details that went on between the family and the husband. I hope that you can rethink your position on this and maybe take things a little easier on Terri's husband. |

Myst & Winona,
Thanks for the info. I guess I should have been a little clearer in my statements in order to show that I was unsure of what I "thought" I had heard about the case.
I had heard about the lawsuit / settlement but was UNSURE of the exact amounts. I also assumed that these actions he was taking (to remove life support) were recent because I hadn't previously heard of this. That too, was an incorrect assumption. My questions about the whole thing were what led to my posting them here. I doubted the motives of her husband when this started and now I doubt not only his, but her parents as well!
What can ya do but keep on pluggin'? |

...Her parents have some info on terrisfight.org, or .net or something...but of course, it's biased. I couldn't find anything specifically FOR Michael Schiavo.
I think the tubes should never have been put in. |

Oh...And I can't remember if I mentioned it here, on another thread...but her heart problems had been due to an eating disorder.
Frankly, if she'd woken up, I wouldn't have doubted if she'd have killed herself anyway. People with eating disorders have a distorted view of beauty & health... |

What dignified person would ever want to be seen in a state like hers? |

Maegan, it was exactly that.
Snip from Wikipedia
Her cardiac arrest is believed to have been caused by bulimia-induced hypokalemia (abnormally low levels of potassium in the blood). At the time of her hospital admission, her blood potassium level was 2.0 mEq/L; the normal range for adults is 3.5-5.0. Medical records noted that "she apparently has been trying to keep her weight down with dieting by herself, drinking liquids most of the time during the day and drinking about 10-15 glasses of iced tea."
Citizen,I wouldn't want to be. |

See. It was HER fault there was a problem with her heart.
Idiot. Everyone knows you can't SURVIVE on iced tea! You've got to have a mint julep now & again. |

"Actually, this happened here just last week - 29 y/o guy with Huntingtons disease, and his parents " posted back in May of 05 by Smerk ...
quick technical comment ... Huntingtons is hereditary and cannot jump a generation ... it's fatal in 30's or so ... therefore "parents" is not possible ... unless not biological. |

Chuck, you need to do your research on Huntington's disease a little better. Yes, the disease is hereditary. The guy in question could have been nursed by his parents, even if one of them has the same disease.
From http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Huntington's :
"Onset of Huntington's disease seems to be correlated to the number of CAG repeats a person has in their HD gene. Generally, the higher the number of repeats the sooner onset is. [7] The number of repeats may change slightly with each successive generation, so that the age of onset may vary as well. Symptoms of Huntington |
