My question about that guy (her husband) is this. Why did he wait 15 years before deciding that removal of the feeding tube is what she would have wanted? The "legal" battles concerning this are only recent... he hasn't been trying to remove it for the last 15 years, only recently. So why now? |

He didn't pay SHIT Evil... there was a lawsuit (medical malpractice) filed by him on her behalf. The results of that lawsuit were an award that was well over 1,000,000. I think something like 2.5 million actually. So anyways, he hasn't been paying for crap. I think the cash is gone now, maybe he doesn't want to pay any for it... so why not just let her parents care for her. My point about this guy is he's shifty. If it was about her wishes, then why ever install the feeding tube to begin with? Just so she could make it through the lawsuit? Then why not remove right after that took place 14 years ago? He should have let her parents decide her future, especially considering he's already got someone else in his life. He has lived with another woman for years, even has two kids with her, so what should he care. I just don't buy that it's what "she" would have preferred, otherwise, she'd have never been on a feeding tube to begin with. |

The legal battles have been going on for 7 years now, I wouldn't say that's too recent. 
Even with Erik's directives of pulling him off life support I would wait a certain period of time before I did so, so that I can get all possible opinions on his possible recovery. (He knows this). I could project and say he -might have- done the same. He then got the settlement in 1997, which is when the family arguments began. After that is about where the 7 years of court battles started.
For the record, they are saying only about $40K of the settlement is left after treatments etc. |

I wish I could find the link for the story I read regarding the settlement. Yes he did get a settlement and that money went towards her care. Her parents even fought with him over the money, they thought they should get the money instead of him, this makes me question the parents' motives. Now this parents of Terri Schiavo have authorized a conservative direct-mailing firm to sell a list of their financial supporters, really makes me wonder about the parents' motives.
Oh and according to this Attorney for Terri Schiavo's Husband Says She Has Died the settlement was $1 million |

I hope her family can sue him for a wrongful death. He is cruel and heartless. I would not be surprised if he did not sit in front of her and eat those last days and tell her how good everything tasted. If I was his new lover I would run as fast as I could and not look back. It was terrible to deny her family to be with her when she took her last breath. I hope that the autopsy reveals foul play on his part and that it voids his insurnance on her. And he is left with nothing. They said that they tested her blood and that they found no enzymes in it that would indicate that she had had a heart attack. She was strangled untill she lost oxygen and that is what caused the brain damage. No matter what he has to answer to a higher power than the power he thinks that he has. |

they found trauma to her legs and a broken back.

Sorry, but this crap is geting WAY too old, and I warned people I'd start to get all pissy.
I can hardly wait for all the tv movies and books that are coming out (No sarcasm there at ALL). And you know they're already in the works (unfortunately, no sarcasm here). |

Don't forget all the people who are going to use the Terry Shiavo court case as a test case to let their loved ones die. Actually, this happened here just last week - 29 y/o guy with Huntingtons disease, and his parents want to withdraw life support...damn, can't find the article online. It was definitely in our newspaper a week or so ago though. |

Yeah, the frothing thing never seems to go away, no matter how I draw it, the pixels are just too large to draw decent fangs.
But I did improve on the dome, though...

Actually, when I went downtown the other day (about 750 people live here) I saw a HUGE stack of empty boxes on the corner by the drugstore, on the front sidewalk. I'm not sure what they were doing (they restock through the back), but I had to explain to the pharmacist why I was laughing so hard.
He didn't think it was quite as humorous as I did. |
