I've said it before, and I'll say it again...
What is this 'topic' that you speak of? I know no such word. |

So, simplified for the confused masses...

Duck tape and Duct tape are the same thing but sold by different manufacturers under different names.
Yes? |

The duckphone goes 'wing, wing'...
How does Hairy think of this stuff? It quacks me up.
I should have a special page on the site collecting together 'the wit and wisdom of Hairy Houdini', just to preserve it all for posterity. |

As for renaming the thread, post in your blog all about Red Green's recent demise on one of his home-built projects.
The duct-tape fans'll come out of the woodwork.
Then start a thread all about the whole sticky situation.
Yes, the worst pun EVER. |

The only time I like renaming threads is when people create threads with totally vague, nondescriptive titles, like 'What about this?' or 'Interesting...' Then I sometimes go in and change the title so that people will have some idea what they're clicking on.
What would be better to do in a case like this is to create a new thread with 'duct tape vs. duck tape' as the title... and just use the comment that inspired the new discussion as the first post in that new thread.
The problem with doing this, however, (now that I think about it) is that it's not easy to move all the existing comments about duck tape into the new thread. So people would tend to keep posting into the old thread. So forget that idea.
Next thought: maybe it would be best to add to the title, rather than erasing what's already there. (i.e. make it: 'Smelly Sneaker Contest [also: duct tape vs. duck tape]). Yeah, that would probably be the best solution. |
