That depends upon what time of day it is, and what you had for lunch... Can't fool me. BTW: $2.23 USD/gal here for 87 octane. Get a Llama. |

Rod, I agree with you, we still have to pay those taxes. It's just that our slimy politicians like to let everyone believe the high prices are only a result of the world oil situation. Meanwhile they are bagging billions of dollars of extra revenue for themselves.
By the way, in your price conversion, did you take into account the difference between the size of the US gallon and the Imperial gallon? |

Argh! Forget I spoke up in the first place!
Dinks!
Just kidding.
St. Stephen - no, not since high school.
Lt. Al... Like I said, didn't bother checking the actual conversion numbers.

Captain Al: No, I was converting between liters and U.S. gallons, as we were comparing U.S. gas prices and Canadian ones. All you need to know is the number of liters in a U.S. gallon...no need to bring Imperial gallons into it. |

Don't forget barometric pressure difference between Canada and the US. And temperature - you're nut-freezing winters would affect volume so what was the temperature when you made your guesstimations? And relative humitity! Oh, and the corialis affect. Being farther north it won't be as pronounced as here in Texas. Does your gasoline drain clockwise or counterclockwise? And is your "weights and measures" bureau more or less corrupt than our own because that will affect the accuracy of your pumps. And being farther away from the sun than us will affect your sight so be sure to use a flashlight next time for sufficient light. And make sure that there are no Frenchies around because you know how they like to distort things.

Holy shit, people. Do you seriously think that someone who lives in Canada doesn't know the difference between metric and imperial measures?
"vrrrrrooooooooooooooooooooooommmm!"
The sound of my SARCASM going over YOUR heads.
And yes, I'm poor. Too poor to afford my plastic surgery...
And the joke I was going to originally reply with was "The only US litre I'm aware of is that big bush thingy", but I didn't think enough people would catch it.

People in the U.S. actually do use litres/liters... Pretty much only for some bottled drinks, though. |

...I get the damn pennies.
Anywho...I wonder about gas prices too...I know the gas stations here only make about $0.05/gallon regardless of the price consumers are paying. On my lunchbreak I saw a CITGO that had gas at $2.13/gallon. They're always a few cents higher than other places. Only 17% of gas come from Middle Eastern countries. So, how come the other 83% isn't cheaper? Isn't it up to Alaska to keep our costs down? Those damn frostbiters are getting paid for their oil. I bet they're driving up the prices on purpose, & when they have enough money they're going to become their own country. Cold bastards.
Oh well, maybe they'll invade Canada.
Hmm...When I started driving gas was $0.86/gallon. Five years later I'd rather spit in the tank than pay for gas. |
