((One of the other theories that I've heard about this has to do with the testing that Tesla was doing at the time. The claims are that Tesla had used his Wardenclyfee tower on Long Island to attempt to resonate the Polar Magnetic Field. His Goal was to create a spectacular display in the Aurora Borealis, for Admiral Perry, who was camped near the North Pole. ))
Tesla was something of a quack. Of course, saying that is akin to stating that God doesn't exist so now I'll probably get flamed.

It was an asteroid. Why resort to fringe speculation on unnatural events if we know that asteroids do impact and create the kind of phenommenon observed at Tunguska?
La, I agree that it was most likely an asteroid, I just like the Tesla theory best because it's nutty. Erik's been trying to convince me to let him build a Tesla coil here, but I won't let him.

Resonating the Polar Magnetic Field? Okaaaay. . .that's an interesting theory. An explosion like that wouldn't have resulted in that particular blast pattern, though. The blast pattern shape at Tunguska is the type you get from a missile coming in at an angle from the ground and exploding. The magnetic field going kablooie wouldn't do that.
I thought they had already tested soil samples of the area and proved it to be of stellar origin due to compounds being found that weren't of Earth origin?

They found very high levels of iridium and nickel. Both of those are found in the Earth's crust, but not usually in the high levels found at Tunguska, and especially not in little pieces of shrapnel imbedded in the trees. The concentrations of those metals is what you would find in a meteor. Of course, they could be arguing that the aliens made their ship out of meteor material or something like that, which actually would make sense from an engineering standpoint. I still think they're daft, though.

Best explanation I've found is tectonic in origin. Very convincing arguments made by this gentleman:

But it answers the "no meteor evidence/no comet evidence" thing.
Erik's been trying to convince me to let him build a Tesla coil here, but I won't let him.
